Welcome to Beaver Pond Creative Productions, featuring the line of work by Vancouver artist Hilary Morris. Hilary's original paintings are produced in opaque watercolour (Gouache) and India Ink and her reproductions capture, in the same detail and vibrancy, the colours of Vancouver and the West Coast.
"A Fall Day over False Creek," New designs are always being added to her line and so the site will be updated often to reflect the latest products and pricing. Some products will be discontinued however, and may not be available at the time of your order. Have a look around the site. For details on ordering information, see the Services page, or contact Beaver Pond by phone at 604-682-1993, or best yet, pop into the studio! |
| About Hilary - Born in Essex, England in 1962, Hilary moved to Vancouver in April 1987 where she was finally able to realize a long-time desire to paint. Although she had no formal training, she had always dabbled in the field but had never had time to explore her full potential. Despite her secret desire to study architecture, she obtained a degree in Honours Geography from the University of Durham and spent the following four years working at a major international bank in London - finding very little opportunity for artistic expression! During her first few months in Canada she took pen and sketch book and began to detail her explorations of the many familiar scenes of Vancouver. This helped Hilary develop her own uniquely graphical style, using technical pen and vibrant gouache paints. She started painting commercially in 1988 and has since sold her work to individual and corporate collectors across Canada, the US, Europe, Central and South America, Australia and Japan. In addition to her interpretations of BC sights, Hilary has also done many commissioned pieces - favourite buildings, scenes, homes, boats and businesses have been produced in great detail and vivid colour. One piece in particular stands out: a Limited Edition print commissioned by the Vancouver Grizzlies, when the NBA draft was held in Vancouver for the first time in 1998. Hilary's View of Vancouver was presented to each of the prospective Grizzlies as a memento of their trip to this beautiful city. Hilary particularly enjoys such "painting to order." The years 1994 and 1995 saw Hilary's work blossom - her first Limited Edition prints (Another Market Summer and Dragon Days) made their appearance during this time. Her mural, Meet Yew at 4th, was completed on the wall of the Kits Coffee Company, which still hosts an ongoing display of her work, along with coffee mugs and coasters of her designs. Hilary continues to be busy since moving her studio to Granville Island - her greeting card line is a Vancouver favourite, carried by a number of shops in the city, and often commissioned by private organizations, such as Ronald McDonald House and BC Children's Hospital. Her Limited Edition prints continue to appear every year, and her artwork seems to pop up all over the Lower Mainland. Of course, she has a permanent display of her work at the Beaver Pond studio, and has regularly scheduled open houses and the occasional show here and there. Visitors to her studio are of course, warmly welcome. |
